Technological enhancements have historically driven increases in the quality of and access to education globally. Today, people can take a class at Harvard from their living room or effectively replace high school with online resources such as Khan Academy. People could learn practically any skill, get a degree, find tutors from all over the world online. IoT can help people make education more accessible in terms of geography, status, and ability.

Future classrooms will be truly tech-enabled, the knowledge transfer model is moving to a collaborative, information-sharing system through the computer, electronic devices. IoT will have a profound impact on the way of teaching because connected systems free up teachers from recording and monitoring students, enabling them to facilitate learning rather than merely regurgitate information. Other IoT applications in education include special education, physical education, school security, personalized learning and learning from home, etc.
